Comprehensive testing and certification for critical environments
Chemical fume hoods are used to contain and exhaust chemical vapors. They come in a variety of types and designs and are used for many different operations. When using a fume hood, it is important to have proper airflow, to avoid release of chemical vapors from the face of the hood into the worker's breathing zone.
Superior Testing Services offers face velocity measurement and smoke containment visualization as a means of documenting a fume hood's performance and for comparison to current standards (AIHA/ANSI, SEFA). This testing and certification procedure is a part of a labs chemical safety management program. Other aspects, including preventative maintenance and inspections, can give a facility a complete program for fume hood management.

This test is performed to ensure that the sterility of air meets the required specifications. Repairs can be made to filters and HVAC systems to improve their overall efficiency and to help them meet required specifications as per the facilities SOP's.
The use of specialized instruments determines the amount and size of particulates within the air. The procedures for air sterility testing and assessment are under constant review to reflect technical advances in filter performance and improved instrumentation. Superior Testing Services is constantly improving our procedures to provide state of the art service to our clients.

Superior Testing Service can perform tests according to ISO 14644, IEST-RP-CC006.3 and CETA (Controlled environment testing association). These practices provide a set of recognized, standardized test procedures for determining the performance of the cleanroom.
Tests performed to ensure the primary and secondary engineering controls are within specifications: air change rate calculation, HEPA filter leak testing, Non-viable and viable particle surveying, room pressure are preformed to provide a more complete characterization of the room. Data gathered through testing can be used to establish baselines, determine current operational status, and justify repairs or modifications if required.

High Efficiency Particulate Air filters are designed to remove at least 99.99% of any airborne particulates entering the room. These filters are commonly used in rooms in which clean air is required to ensure quality testing. Tests are performed to determine whether the integrity of the media has been compromised.
To test the filters a concentration of a test aerosol is added into the air stream, and a downstream sample or scan is taken on the clean side of the filter to ensure the amount of particles does not exceed the respective limits. This test is performed using a calibrated light scattering photometer. HEPA Filters that are installed in containment equipment or rooms must be frequently tested to ensure the quality of air is in compliance with appropriate standards. Any filters with minor leaks can be repaired as identified. If a repair cannot be made then a replacement filter should be installed at the discretion of the customer.

There are numerous manufacturers each with many different models of biological safety cabinets. Superior Testing Services has an extensive library of testing procedures to assist us in properly certifying each piece of equipment to the appropriate specifications.
To ensure correct data and ensure a quality certification Superior Testing Services uses up to date instrumentation that is calibrated regularly and traceable to NIST. Various types of repair and maintenance can be preformed to ensure the equipment is running at maximum efficiency.

A laminar flow clean bench provides HEPA filtered airflow across the work area, and a particulate-free work surface. Because only HEPA filtered air crosses the work surface, the cabinet is ideal for a range of life science and industrial laboratory process applications where clean air and product protection is essential.
Superior Testing Services tests all Laminar Flow Clean Bench equipment to the recommended manufacturers specifications and The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology Recommended Practice.

Superior Testing Services is fully qualified in the installation and commissioning of a containment facility. Before putting a new lab into commission it must first be tested to ensure that the facility meets all standards required. All the equipment and procedures must pass an annual inspection thereafter.
STS is prepared to fully install any lab equipment needed to help you meet operating specifications. Whether it is Biological Safety Cabinets, Fume Hoods, Laminar Flow Benches, Countertops, Cabinets, HVAC systems or any other testing equipment, STS has qualified technicians to perform the duties required to meet your needs.
